Islamabad, Mar 22, 2025: Karachi is set to experience scorching temperatures over the weekend, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicting highs exceeding 37°C on Saturday and Sunday.
The rising heat is expected to make outdoor conditions challenging for residents.
Temperature Trends and Weather Conditions
On Friday, Karachi recorded a maximum temperature of 36.9°C, with intense sunlight intensifying the heat.
The minimum temperature in the early morning stood at 21.1°C. Low wind speeds during the afternoon further contributed to the sweltering conditions.
According to the PMD’s Early Warning Center, the warm spell is likely to persist, as dry northwesterly winds from Balochistan are forecasted to sweep through the city during the morning hours.
However, some relief is expected later in the day when sea breezes become active, bringing a slight dip in temperatures.
Humidity and Heat Index
Despite the rising temperatures, meteorologists suggest that Karachi may not experience extreme heat stress due to relatively lower humidity levels.

The humidity stood at 86% on Friday morning, but with dry conditions expected, the heat index may not increase significantly.
Weather Outlook for Sindh
Apart from Karachi, most areas of Sindh will also remain hot and dry over the next few days, with no major weather changes expected.
The PMD advises that the region should prepare for continuous warm conditions with minimal chances of rain or cooling.
Precautionary Measures for Residents
With temperatures climbing, experts urge Karachiites to take necessary precautions.
Staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours, and wearing light, breathable clothing can help prevent heat-related health issues.
Authorities recommend keeping an eye on weather updates and limiting outdoor activities, especially for children and the elderly, as the heatwave grips the metropolis.
