Islamabad, 28, May 2025: After years of anticipation, WhatsApp has officially launched its native iPad app, giving Apple users a fully optimized experience tailored for the tablet.

This marks a major leap in the platform’s cross-device functionality, addressing a long-standing user request that had surprisingly gone unanswered—until now.

WhatsApp unveiled its dedicated iPad application today, finally bridging the gap for millions of users who rely on the app across Apple devices. The announcement follows a cryptic teaser on WhatsApp’s official X (formerly Twitter) account just a day earlier, building suspense for this highly awaited rollout.

Available now on the App Store, the new WhatsApp for iPad delivers all the essentials—and more. Users can now make end-to-end encrypted audio and video calls with up to 32 participants, share their screens during calls, and toggle seamlessly between front and back cameras.

The app has been designed to take full advantage of iPadOS capabilities, including support for Stage Manager multitasking, Split View, and Slide Over.

That means chatting while browsing or taking notes is easier than ever. Integration with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil makes the user experience even more fluid, particularly for professionals and creatives.

A standout feature is the real-time sync across all Apple devices, ensuring your chats, media, and calls remain accessible and updated on iPhone, Mac, and now, iPad. With features like Chat Lock, users can keep sensitive conversations private—especially important when devices are shared among family members or colleagues.

Tech analysts have welcomed the launch, calling it a “long-overdue but strategic move.” According to analyst Sarah Khan, “WhatsApp’s absence from the iPad ecosystem was a curious gap, especially when competitors like Telegram and iMessage were fully optimized. This release not only catches up but exceeds expectations by leveraging iPad’s productivity features.”
