Islamabad, Aug 12, 2025: WhatsApp Moving Photoss are finally making their way to Android beta testers with the latest update, version 2.25.22.29, available via the Google Play Beta Program. This new feature allows users to share dynamic images with movement and sound, offering a more immersive way to capture and relive memories.
Currently, the update is rolling out to selected beta users and will gradually reach more people in the coming weeks.
What Exactly Are Motion Photos?
Motion photos are brief, moving clips that capture the moments just before and after you take a picture — often including audio. Popular on devices like Samsung Galaxy (tagged as “Motion Photo”) and Google Pixel (known as “Top Shot” or “Motion Photos”), this format adds life to static images by preserving atmosphere and context in a richer way.
How WhatsApp Moving Photos Work
With this update, WhatsApp users can pick a motion photo from their gallery and send it in dynamic mode, keeping both movement and audio intact. If they prefer, they can convert it into a still image during editing. Once shared, these media files will display a small motion icon in the thumbnail’s corner, making them easily recognizable compared to regular pictures.
Device Compatibility & Access
The new feature supports motion photo formats from compatible Android devices. For example, Pixel owners may need to turn off the 50MP high-res mode to enable Top Shot. With this native integration, WhatsApp removes the need for third-party apps or video conversions when sharing motion photos.
