Islamabad, Apr 25, 2025: WhatsApp has officially introduced a powerful new feature known as Advanced Chat Privacy, aiming to tighten the security of both one-on-one and group chats.
This major update reflects WhatsApp’s growing commitment to user privacy and content control.
With this feature enabled, users will no longer be able to export full chat histories from the app, which adds a protective barrier around sensitive conversations.
It also prevents the automatic saving of shared photos and videos to the gallery of recipients, keeping media secure and within the app’s ecosystem.
Moreover, Meta AI functionalities are now limited within chats when this feature is turned on, meaning users won’t unknowingly share data with Meta’s AI models during private conversations.
Key Functions of Advanced Chat Privacy
-
Stops others from exporting your chats outside WhatsApp.
-
Prevents images and videos from saving automatically to device storage.
-
Restricts the use of AI tools in ongoing conversations.
Once activated, no member within the chat—especially in groups—can access the full chat export option. WhatsApp also confirmed that users can still take screenshots of individual messages, though future versions may disable screenshots altogether for extra security.

How to Enable This Feature
-
Open any chat.
-
Tap the contact or group name at the top.
-
Choose “Advanced Chat Privacy” and switch it on.
Once activated in a group, all members receive an alert confirming the feature is live.
WhatsApp Ends Support for Older iPhones
In a parallel move to enhance overall app performance and security, WhatsApp has discontinued support for older iPhone models.
As of May 5, the app will only work on devices running iOS 15.1 or later. Affected devices include:
-
iPhone 5S
-
iPhone 6
-
iPhone 6 Plus
These phones maxed out at iOS 12.5.7, which no longer meets WhatsApp’s updated system requirements.
With over two billion global users, WhatsApp continues to lead in digital communication security—and the Advanced Chat Privacy feature is another significant leap in that direction.
