Islamabad, July 13, 2025: WhatsApp is testing a new typing indicator update for Android users, offering better visibility of real-time group activity. The latest WhatsApp typing indicator update allows users to see how many members are typing before even opening the group chat.
According to WABetaInfo, the feature is rolling out with the Android beta version 2.25.20.17 through the Google Play Store. Previously, WhatsApp only showed a single name like “Ali is typing…” in group previews. Now, it displays dynamic messages such as “2 people typing…”, giving users a clearer idea of ongoing conversations.
This small yet smart change is expected to significantly improve communication in active groups. It helps users decide when to engage by showing how lively the chat is at a glance.

However, the update only applies to text inputs. If several members are recording voice notes, WhatsApp will still show only one name in the indicator, just like before.
