Wheat prices in Pakistan have surged to Rs. 3,943 per 40 kilograms, reaching a 72-week high last recorded in April 2024.

According to brokerage house Topline Securities, the price hike is due to supply chain disruptions and partial crop damage caused by recent floods.

Analysts noted that the adverse weather conditions have strained wheat availability, fueling upward pressure on prices.

The sustained rise is raising concerns for both consumers and millers, as higher costs are expected to cascade into flour prices, further burdening inflation-hit households.
