Islamabad, Oct 26: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia as well as its T20I tour of South Africa.

In a mix of experience and youth, India has shown preference for the three spin all-rounders: R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar with seam-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, also making the cut.

Reddy, 21, is already acclimating Down Under, thanks to his spot in the India A team playing in Mackay and Melbourne, which should give him invaluable exposure.

Alongside Reddy, India’s pace attack features Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, and Harshit Rana. Rana, one of the squad’s youngest players at 22, is gaining attention after his impressive four-wicket hauls in the Duleep Trophy.

Prasidh, returning from a back injury, adds depth to the pace lineup, while Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini bolster the reserves.

The rest of the squad features expected names featuring in India’s ongoing series against New Zealand.

India begins the tour with a warm-up game against India A in Perth on November 15, followed by the series opener against Australia on November 22. The schedule features a day-night Test in Adelaide and the traditional Boxing Day and New Year’s Tests in Melbourne and Sydney.

India Squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy:

Rohit Sharma (c) KL Rahul Rishabh Pant (wk) Ravichandran Ashwin Jasprit Bumrah (vc) Mohammad Siraj

Virat Kohli Abhimanyu Easwaran Sarfaraz Khan Ravindra Jadeja Nitish Kumar Reddy Akash Deep

Yashasvi Jaiswal Shubman Gill Dhruv Jurel (wk) Washington

Travelling Reserves: Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini, and Khaleel Ahmed.

Holding the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after two victorious tours of Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21, India will aim to continue their dominance on Australian soil and solidify their standings on the WTC Table.

Meanwhile, BCCI also announced the squad for India’s upcoming T20I series against South Africa.
