Islamabad, Oct 8: Women on Wheels Program Launched in Punjab to Empower Women
In line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision to promote women’s empowerment, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima has officially launched the ‘Women on Wheels’ program at the Girls Guide House in Rawalpindi.
According to a police spokesperson, CTO Fatima invited women at the Girls Guide House to take part in scooter or motorcycle driving training through this initiative. Those interested can contact the traffic police to register for the training sessions, which will be held at the institute.
The program’s inauguration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where Regional Girls Guide Commissioner Dr. Saira Mufti welcomed the CTO, and girl guides presented her with a bouquet as a token of appreciation. Approximately 25 girls from the institute are expected to benefit from the program in its initial phase.
CTO Beenish Fatima emphasized that the main objective of the Women on Wheels program is to empower women by equipping them with the skills needed to drive safely and independently.
She highlighted the importance of self-sufficiency for girls, stating that it would alleviate the burden on their families and allow them to travel to school, college, university, or work without transportation difficulties. Additionally, participants will receive their driving licenses in a short period.
The program is also open to women teachers from Rawalpindi and nearby areas who wish to learn how to drive cars or motorcycles, encouraging them to contact the traffic police training institute for enrollment in the driving courses.
