Islamabad, Apr 20, 2025: The World Bank has sanctioned an extra $108 million in funding for Pakistan, targeting the enhancement of infrastructure and strengthening resilience in the rural and tourism sectors.

As per an official announcement from the global lender, $78 million will be allocated to the Punjab Rural Accessibility Project.

This initiative aims to improve road infrastructure, facilitate market access, and provide enhanced employment opportunities for the rural population.

The remaining $30 million will be dedicated to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project.

The World Bank highlighted that the funds will focus on initiatives to increase climate and natural resilience while promoting eco-tourism and community-led development in the province.

“These investments are intended to improve service delivery and boost economic prospects, especially in underserved and vulnerable areas,” the Bank stated.

This additional funding comes as part of Pakistan’s continued collaboration with international financial organizations to support its development goals amidst ongoing economic challenges.

The World Bank emphasized that both projects align with its broader strategy of fostering sustainable growth and enhancing resilience to climate change in South Asia.

Officials from the Planning Ministry expressed their appreciation for the approval, calling it a “positive move” toward fostering inclusive economic growth.
