ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 20: The World Cricketers’ Association (WCA) has begun a comprehensive study with the objective of resolving the “broken and unsustainable” status of the cricket schedule for the current calendar year.
The WCA, formerly known as FICA, is working to find a way to make domestic leagues and international cricket compatible so that both can run concurrently on a logical worldwide schedule.
The review team, which consists of prominent individuals including former Pakistan women’s captain Sana Mir and chief executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board Tom Harrison, will work with outside consultants.
Prior to making proposals to the WCA board, they hope to get feedback from broadcasters, players, administrators, and team owners.
The current state of global scheduling chaos, which forces players to choose between career optimization and national participation, was brought to light by the WCA.
In order to benefit players, boards, and fans alike, the organization demanded an immediate modification to the cricket schedule in order to restore clarity and balance.
The WCA head, Heath Mills, stressed the necessity for a coordinated strategy, pointing out that the leadership of the sport has not been able to create an organized international framework that allows domestic and international cricket to coexist
According to a recent study by the Professional Cricketers’ Association, 81% of players were concerned about the physical effects of a demanding domestic schedule, demonstrating the mounting problems that have resulted from this lack of structure. In an attempt to resolve these problems, the WCA review proposes a course of action that may eventually stabilize cricket on an international and domestic level.
