Islamabad, Dec 10: Xiaomi is preparing to launch its second electric vehicle, the YU7 SUV, in the summer of 2025, following the success of the SU7 sedan. Aiming to compete with Tesla’s Model Y, the YU7 is undergoing rigorous testing, as confirmed by CEO Lei Jun, to ensure a high-quality product for its anticipated release in June or July 2025.
According to regulatory filings with China’s MIIT, the YU7 measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase.
The dual-motor SUV offers a top speed of 253 km/h and delivers 295 hp at the front and 386 hp at the rear, powered by a Li-ion ternary battery from CATL. The production will take place at Xiaomi EV’s factory in Yizhuang, Beijing.
The YU7’s inclusion in the MIIT catalog highlights its progress toward final approvals, marking Xiaomi’s continued expansion in the electric vehicle market.
