Islamabad, 23 May 2025: In observance of Youm-e-Takbir, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and the District and Sessions Courts (East and West) will remain closed on 28th May 2025, following official orders issued by the Acting Chief Justice.
According to a formal notification dated 21st May 2025, the Deputy Registrar (General) of the Islamabad High Court, Muhammad Sarfraz Sharif, confirmed that the decision has been made to mark the national significance of the day.
The holiday applies to both the Islamabad High Court and its Civil and Sessions Courts, ensuring a complete judicial shutdown across the federal capital’s court system.
The directive was issued in accordance with the Acting Chief Justice’s approval and has been forwarded for publication in the official Gazette of Pakistan.
Historical Significance of Youm-e-Takbir
Youm-e-Takbir is commemorated annually on 28th May to mark Pakistan’s entry into the global nuclear club in 1998. The day holds great symbolic importance in the country’s history, reflecting its strategic defence capabilities and national resolve.
