Islamabad, Feb 11: In a remarkable achievement, a 16-year-old student from Karachi, Mahrukh, has created Pakistan’s first-ever calculator in the Sindhi language, utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). She completed this groundbreaking project within just three days, aiming to assist Sindhi-speaking entrepreneurs and individuals in managing their financial calculations with ease.
Mahrukh noted that a significant portion of Sindh’s population has limited access to higher education and primarily communicates in Sindhi. As a result, many individuals face difficulties in using modern technology. To bridge this gap, she developed an AI-powered calculator that functions entirely in Sindhi, enabling business owners and common users to perform financial operations effortlessly in their native language.
The project was made possible with the integration of ChatGPT and other advanced AI technologies. Mahrukh believes that if the government and private sector take an interest in her invention, the calculator could be widely adopted for commercial applications, benefiting a larger audience.
Currently studying at Rehman Allahwala School in Karachi, Mahrukh is part of an innovative learning environment where traditional textbooks have been replaced with smart devices and AI-based educational tools. This approach allows students to gain hands-on experience with modern technology while also exploring avenues for financial independence during their academic years.

Emphasizing the importance of skills over formal degrees, Mahrukh encourages young individuals to develop their expertise in technology and digital platforms. Beyond her technical accomplishments, Mahrukh has also gained recognition from the Rashid Culture and Science Center for her contributions. Additionally, she is passionate about public speaking and has won multiple awards in speech competitions. Her aspiration is to inspire and motivate others through her words and actions.
