Islamabad, Feb 26 2025: Afghanistan opening batter, Ibrahim Zadran, made history in the eighth match of the Champions Trophy 2025 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The right-handed batter scored a fantastic hundred against England with an aggressive approach, hitting 12 fours and six sixes during his 146-ball innings.
With his monumental knock of 177 runs, Zadran not only helped Afghanistan set a handsome total but also set two significant records in ODI cricket.
Zadran surpassed the record of Ben Duckett, who scored 165 runs, which stood as the highest individual score in the history of the Champions Trophy.
The star England batter had set the mark in the game against Australia in ongoing edition of the event at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The 23-year-old also became the highest individual scorer for Afghanistan in ODIs, breaking his own record of 162, which he set in 2022 against Sri Lanka.
The remarkable performance of Zadran helped Afghanistan reach a daunting total of 325/7 in their must-win crucial match.
This score now stands as the highest ever by Afghanistan in ODI events, surpassing their previous best of 291/5 against Australia in the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
Talking about the game, England started their innings poorly, losing two quick wickets with only 95 runs on the board after 16 overs.
