Islamabad, Aug 30: Ecommerce Gateway has presented Chairman P@SHA Muhammad Zohaib Khan with the inaugural IT Icon Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the regional business community. At the 25th ITCN Asia’s opening session, State Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima gave him the prize.
For the previous fifteen years, Zohaib Khan has been involved with the IT association in a variety of roles, including chairman, vice chairman, and member of the central executive committee.
As chairman, he oversaw the nation’s record-breaking FY24 export earnings of over $3.2 billion and the first-ever hosting of the APICTA Awards for regional economies in Pakistan in 2023.
He oversaw the IT sector’s accomplishment of a number of significant milestones, including IT export awards, federal and provincial tax incentives, the retention of 50% of foreign exchange facilities in bank accounts, and the establishment of Tech Destination Pakistan in association with private banking and policymakers. He reorganized P@SHA’s research and development departments as well as its secretariat.
Additionally, under Zohaib’s direction, a number of IT firms from Pakistan increased their presence throughout the GCC and in European states.
He is currently actively participating in the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) with the goal of increasing IT exports to a record $10 billion over the course of the next several years.
Shaza Fatima, State Minister for IT and Telecommunication, stated that the involvement of stakeholders is critical to the nation’s economic growth. P@SHA’s chairman-led leadership has done a remarkable job setting historical firsts for Pakistan. She said that the government anticipates P@SHA leadership working with them more in the future.
The IT Icon Awards were introduced, according to Project Director ITCN Umair Nizam, to honor those who have provided extraordinary commitment and steadfast work to the IT and tech sectors. He went on to say that in order to inspire more leaders to serve the business and the nation, we must celebrate the efforts, successes, and vision of the leadership on local and international platforms.
