Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, a prominent government-owned development finance institution with the highest credit rating, has launched a recruitment drive to appoint a new Head of Legal at the Senior or Executive Vice President level.

ZTBL is searching for a veteran legal expert who can offer strategic direction on legal matters, with deep knowledge of financial and regulatory laws. The appointment will be made on a contract initially lasting five years, subject to extension based on performance assessments.

The new legal head will be expected to manage the bank’s legal affairs comprehensively, ensuring full compliance with financial regulations, supporting litigation efforts, and advising senior management on complex legal matters.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

ZTBL has outlined a broad set of responsibilities for the incoming executive. These include:

Conducting legal risk assessments and creating mitigation plans
Overseeing the drafting and implementation of legal documents
Reviewing decisions from higher courts and aligning internal policies accordingly
Enforcing regulatory practices issued by the State Bank of Pakistan and the Securities & Exchange Commission

The appointed leader will supervise 31 Legal Litigation Units across the country and guide legal representation in courts handling commercial, employment, tax, and banking-related issues.

The executive will also be tasked with maintaining an up-to-date legal library for internal use and monitoring changes in financial laws and judicial decisions.

Strong leadership, precise legal analysis, and polished drafting capabilities are essential for this role.

Experience and Educational Background

Applicants must possess a Law degree (LLB) from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). A minimum of 15 years’ professional experience is required, with at least a decade spent working in legal departments of financial institutions.

ZTBL emphasized that the role demands a senior-level professional who has led legal teams and managed high-level corporate or regulatory cases.
