Unequal Global Access

Global mobility is not equal everywhere depending on the passport of the traveler. Certain countries possess few visa-free or Visa on arrival countries affiliations making their passports some of the least ranked.

Ranking Criteria

Henley Passport Index uses the number of visa- free destinations as the measure of passport strength. Some of the world’s passports allow its holders visa-free and visa-on-arrival travel to fewer than 40 countries in 2024  and 10 Weakest Passports in 2024 as:

  1. Afghanistan

With access to just 27 countries, the Afghan passport is the least desirable, followed by the ComboBox21.  Present threats of security limit Afghans travelling abroad.

  1. Iraq

With 29 accessible nations, Iraq is in a very poor position. This is because attention to security problems and diplomatic constraints are among factors that limit the mobility of Iraq.

  1. Syria

In some countries, Syrian citizen can visit only 30 destinations without a visa. Long civil wars have contributed to the increases of restriction on international travels.

  1. Pakistan
