Islamabad, Oct 21: 2025 National Games Faces Delays as Funds Remain Unreleased
The famous 2025 National Games are coming up in January and February, but due to the delayed disbursement of money, preparations are still behind schedule.
The 35th National Games are not expected to be organized any faster than they are now, which raises doubts about whether the event can be held on schedule.
Athletes from more than 30 disciplines are anticipated to compete in excess of 7,000, posing a logistical challenge that must be solved with careful planning and prompt action. According to sources, the entire schedule is in jeopardy since the event’s foundation cannot even be started without the release of funding.
February was selected as the ideal time for the 2025 National Games ahead of Ramadan which will be observed in March. This has increased calls for the immediate release of funds to ensure preparations can get underway as soon as possible.
Sources within the Sindh government have hinted that the required funds may be released later this month. However, both the Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) and the provincial sports department has since acknowledged that no practical steps had been taken yet, as they are still awaiting the final approval of the funds. Officials remain hopeful that the funds will be approved soon, allowing the preparation for the Games to finally begin.
All eyes are on the Sindh government to expedite the funding process and begin the necessary preparations for what seems to be one of the biggest athletic events in the nation, as time is running out as January approaches.
The Pakistan Army, which won its 28th title when the competition was last held in Quetta in 2023, will be defending its title there.
