Islamabad, Nov: 30 Bottled Water Brands in Pakistan Declared Unsafe for Drinking

According to a recent report by the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), the government has deemed 30 bottled water brands unfit for human consumption because of chemical and microbiological contamination.

To safeguard the public’s health, the government requires quarterly evaluations of mineral and bottled water brands. In the third quarter of 2024 (July to September), PCRWR collected 205 samples from 21 cities.

The purpose of testing these samples was to confirm that they met the requirements set by the Pakistan requirements and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA).

Twelve brands, including Natural Pure Life, Bro H2O, Purifa Spring Water, and Aqua Health, were discovered to have sodium levels beyond acceptable limits, which could be harmful to one’s health, according to the PCRWR report.

In addition, turbidity levels exceeding permissible limits were demonstrated by other brands, such as Black Seed Water and Natural, while Black Seed Water also revealed a pH imbalance.

Other brands, including D Nova Pure Drinking Water, Afra, and Aqua Slim, were found to be contaminated with bacteria, making them unfit for human consumption.

As water safety continues to be a top issue in public health initiatives, the PCRWR report has urged consumers to exercise caution and emphasizes the necessity of regular quality control.

Through frequent updates on Pakistan’s water quality, authorities have urged people to select certified safe brands and to keep themselves informed.
