Islamabad: Andrei Metelitsa, the ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Pakistan on Sunday, declared that the 30th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relationship Pakistan will mark a significant turning point in their bilateral relations.

“Pakistan exports goods from leather, fabrics, textiles, sports equipment, surgical instruments, manicure sets, and other food items to Belarus,” he said. The ambassador declared, “We hope that our support in the form of humanitarian aid assisted our Pakistani friends affected by destructive floods in June-October 2022.” Minsk has never wavered in its support of Pakistan.He declared, “The Belarusian leadership is sincerely interested in further strengthening a friendly and sustainable partnership with Pakistan in all areas of mutual interest.”
In response to a query about the relationship between the two countries’ top leaders, he stated that during their meetings in September and October 2022 outside of the SCO in Samarkand and CICA in Astana, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus decided to step up their bilateral cooperation. “Heads of state and government visits are effective instruments for intensifying cooperation,” he said.Typically, they provide momentum for fresh collaborative endeavors and endeavors.He stated, “We approach the Head of State visits with a great deal of preparation and start from the necessity to ensure its effectiveness, particularly in terms of economics.”
In response to a query about the Joint Belarusian-Pakistani Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, he stated that the sixth meeting of the commission was held in January 2023 as a prelude to the bilateral summit, and that in May of the same year, the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs paid a visit to Pakistan. “Several draft treaties and contracts, including the draft Road Map for trade facilitation in the next three years, are being negotiated by different ministries and companies of Belarus and Pakistan,” he stated”We collaborate to get these documents ready for the President to sign while he’s here,” he said.
“On July 2, in Islamabad, political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers will discuss the timing, program, and economic content of the visit of the Belarusian Head of State to Pakistan,” stated the ambassador of Belarus.Neither side has proposed a free trade or preferential trade agreement,” he said in response to a question about a free trade agreement between the two nations.He said, “If such a proposal is made, it will be taken into consideration for additional discussions and signing.”
