A report from the Ministry of IT and Telecom claims that federal ministries and divisions have mainly ignored orders from the Prime Minister’s Office to move to the e-office system.The Prime Minister has received a report on e-office from the Ministry of IT and Telecom. Five important ministries have not yet implemented the e-office system, according to the study.
It has been identified that the Finance, Power, and Petroleum divisions do not make any use of the e-office system. In a similarly, the system has not been implemented by the Law and Justice Division or the Revenue Division.12 ministries and divisions still use less than 50% of the e-office system. The Ministry of Housing and Works’ e-office utilization rate is a 1%, whereas the Defense Division’s is 13% and the Narcotics Control Division’s is 14%.
Usage rates are 20 percent for the National Health Services Ministry, 21 percent for the Overseas Pakistanis Ministry, and 40 percent for the Science and Technology Ministry. At 85%, the Ministry of IT and Telecom has a high adoption rate.On the other hand, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), National Heritage and Culture, Poverty Alleviation, and Religious Affairs Ministries have all completely switched to the e-office system and are claiming 100% utilization.
The prime minister had earlier noticed the poor adoption rates and ordered all ministries and divisions to switch from manual filing to the electronic office system. He also asked the Ministry of IT to provide a thorough report on the ministry’s progress.
