Islamabad, Sep 18: Several important projects and policies were authorized during a provincial cabinet meeting presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The “Apna Ghar Apni Chhat” program is a significant undertaking that seeks to construct 500,000 homes throughout Punjab over the course of the next five years.

Additionally approved were the “Children Heart Surgery Program” and the “Chief Minister Green Tractor Program.” The cabinet also resolved to enhance the punishment for unlawful gun ownership, increasing the fee from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 700,000 and imposing a strict three-year jail sentence.

The MDCAT policy was approved for both public and private medical and dental universities, which was another significant move. In addition, the government approved the founding of the first life insurance company in Punjab.

Plot owners who have legitimate ownership letters and CNICs can now apply for house loans, the meeting determined. Borrowers will pay back a loan of Rs. 1.5 million over nine years at a rate of Rs. 14,000 per month. CM Maryam Nawaz ordered the loan program to be changed into a fee-free revolving fund and streamlined the application review procedure for candidates.

9,500 tractors will be provided under the Green Tractor Program, with a Rs. 1 million subsidy each unit, beginning in September 2024 and ending on October 20 for voting. In addition, the cabinet imposed harsher penalties for violators of kite flying, with fines of up to Rs. 5 million and prison terms ranging from two to five years.
