ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 15: The three consulates in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal as well as the Pakistan High Commission in Ottawa hosted flag-hoisting rituals in honor of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day.
The national anthem played when Acting High Commissioner Faisal Kakar unfolded the flag.
Many Canadian citizens of Pakistani descent and members of the Pakistani diaspora attended the joyous occasion.

On this particular occasion, Kakar emphasized the day’s historical significance, recognized the sacrifices made by the Pakistani Canadian community, and informed them of the latest actions done by the Pakistani government to assist Pakistanis living abroad.

He called on the Pakistani diaspora to work together harmoniously and to double their efforts toward the socioeconomic advancement of their country.
He claimed that Pakistan has made incredible development in recent years, in spite of many obstacles and disadvantages.

He emphasized that this auspicious day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our ancestors in the fight for freedom and as a symbol of the spirit and resiliency of the Pakistani people.
It emphasizes our need to preserve the principles of independence and represents our shared path toward development, prosperity, and unity within the country.

He emphasized Pakistan’s support for the legitimate fight of the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) for the right to self-determination, while drawing the attention of the world community to their misery.

“Canada and Pakistan have strong cultural links and have been longtime allies. He said, “Today, over half a million Canadians are of Pakistani descent; they are intricately woven together and contribute to Canada’s prosperity, diversity, and inclusivity.”

A cake-cutting ritual representing development and unity was also included in the program. In addition to this celebration, the 78th Independence Day of the country was marked by a number of events organized by the Pakistani diaspora.
