Islamabad, June 5, 2025: On June 5, 2025, countries around the world are observing World Environment Day, an initiative led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The day serves to highlight the major environmental threats facing the planet today including rising sea levels, overuse of natural resources, pollution, the illegal trade of wildlife, and the growing concern of food shortages.

This year’s theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” draws urgent attention to the harmful impact plastic waste has on nature, animals, and human health. The scale of the crisis is vast as tiny plastic particles have now been found not only in deep oceans and mountain peaks but also inside the human body.

Pakistan is actively working to tackle these environmental challenges. Through several ongoing efforts, the country aims to reduce the damage caused by harmful human practices, showing its commitment to preserving nature.
