Islamabad, Apr 15, 2025: The Adiala Road Flyover project, with a budget of Rs. 2.113 billion, is unlikely to meet its revised deadline of April 15, set by the Punjab government.
Currently, only 65% of the construction has been finished.
Reasons for the Delay
The project is now expected to reach completion by the end of May.
More than 30% of the project remains unfinished, with only 15 girders installed on the flyover’s supporting pillars.
Once the construction team places the remaining girders, they will begin the testing phase, which is expected to take roughly a week.
The official pointed out that the combination of Ramazan, inclement weather, and the Eid holidays have hindered the progress.
Despite these challenges, the official stressed that rushing the work could jeopardize the project’s quality.
Current Status and Future Plans
The divisional administration is focusing on completing the project as quickly as possible, especially since the construction of the GPO Chowk underpass has begun, causing traffic disruptions in the area.
The authorities are now planning to open the flyover for traffic by the end of May, once they finalize all testing procedures.
The flyover, spanning 1915 feet in length and 52 feet in width, will include service roads on either side, each 22 feet wide.

This is an integral part of the larger Ring Road project, which aims to widen Adiala Road and remove traffic signals for smoother traffic flow.
For this project, eight kanals and 11.5 marlas of land were acquired at a cost of Rs. 317.623 million.
Efforts to Accelerate the Project
The district administration has urged the Communication and Works Department to mobilize all necessary resources to ensure timely completion of the project, despite the delays.
The official confirmed that the deputy commissioner has instructed all relevant departments to prioritize the flyover’s completion.
