Islamabad, Sep 24: Police officers and officials in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) have been prohibited from expressing opinions or sharing content on social media without prior permission, as per a recent memorandum issued by Inspector General (IG) Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

The directive restricts officers from speaking publicly in their official capacity, publishing articles, or making statements on social media without approval.

Additionally, the memorandum forbids officers from creating videos or taking pictures in police uniform within government premises, vehicles, or private spaces for personal publicity. It also explicitly prohibits the uploading of secret or official documents, as well as the sharing of personal, political, or religious views online.

The IG emphasized that only the Public Relations Branch of the Central Police Office (CPO) is authorized to operate official communication regarding police activities.

Officers wishing to share positive departmental news on social media must seek regular departmental permission from the DIG Headquarters through the Public Relations Branch.

Unit heads are tasked with monitoring the social media activities of their officers, and any violations of the policy will result in strict departmental action.

This policy will remain in effect until further notice, with all officers required to adhere strictly to these guidelines.
