Islamabad, Aug 23: In an effort to raise the standard of education and provide the workforce needed to meet modern demands, the government will build a cutting-edge Teachers Training Center within two years, according to Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal, who made this announcement on Friday.
He made this remark during the District Education Performance Index-2023 inauguration. He claimed that political unrest prevented the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government from finishing the project, which it had started during its previous term.He claimed that the center would be the greatest in South Asia, working with local education agencies to provide kids with a top-notch education that emphasized developing their critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
Iqbal declared, “It will be a paradigm shift from memorization-based education,” and added that the project would also change the way exams are currently administered. According to Ahsan Iqbal, in the modern period, where creativity and innovation drove development, education focused solely on memorization was obsolete. He thought that without raising the bar for education and investing in the development of human resources, the nation would not be able to make the necessary progress toward prosperity. “Infrastructure development cannot be beneficial on its own.”
The minister gave global examples to support his claim that no nation has ever achieved development and wealth without at least a 90% literacy rate. “Reaching the universal primary enrollment education target is essential for development.” He also touched on a few other difficulties, such as the absence of an economy driven by exports and political unrest.
In order to be included in the group of low-middle income countries and among the backward nations, our socio-economic platform is unfortunately broken, he added, emphasizing the significance of social and economic alignment for national progress.” Speaking back to earlier PML-N government initiatives aimed at improving the nation’s socioeconomic standing, he said that they had produced the world’s best development road map, Vision-2010 in 1998, and the Vision-2025 in 2013, which aimed to rank the nation among the world’s top economies. However, all of these projects were hampered by political unrest.
