ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 1: The Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Karachi, Bakheet Ateeq al-Remeithi, has cautioned Pakistanis living in the UAE not to spread false information about Pakistan, its institutions, or its leaders.

According to the consul general, Pakistanis living in the United Arab Emirates have been criticizing Pakistan on social media. As a result, several people have been arrested and given sentences ranging from 14 to 15 years in jail.

In addition, the majority of individuals implicated were deported, while over five Pakistanis received life sentences. The consul general issued a warning, stating that Pakistanis found engaging in such activities would not be allowed to enter the Gulf, especially the UAE, with a visa.

He cautioned against posting or transmitting offensive material on social media and threatened to prosecute anybody who did so to court. Pakistanis were also advised by the UAE Consul General to put their political differences aside and refrain from bringing them to Dubai.

According to Bakheet Ateeq, all consular services are still being provided and there are no limitations on UAE visas. He did note, though, that there are now harsher visa regulations.
Additionally, he advised Pakistanis to visit tourism destinations within their own nation before traveling to Dubai.
