Islamabad, Mar 17, 2025: Apple is once again rumored to be developing an iPhone 17 Ultra, which could make its debut later this year.
If this speculation sounds familiar, it’s because similar leaks surfaced ahead of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 launches.
At that time, many believed the “Ultra” variant would either replace the Pro Max or introduce an entirely new premium category.
Now, these discussions have resurfaced, gaining traction once again.
Ultra Could Take Over Pro Max
A recent report from the Naver blog suggests that Apple is considering replacing the iPhone 17 Pro Max with a newly designed iPhone 17 Ultra.
This claim is backed by supply chain insights, indicating that Apple is working on substantial hardware improvements to make this model distinct. One of the key changes could be a smaller Dynamic Island at the top of the screen.
Furthermore, the volume of display components ordered does not support the production of both a Pro and an Ultra variant, implying that the Ultra might completely take over the Pro Max lineup.
Exclusive Enhancements
According to the report, the iPhone 17 Ultra is expected to introduce unique features unavailable on other iPhone models.
It may be the only variant equipped with a vapor chamber cooling system, designed to prevent the device from overheating.
Additionally, the Ultra is rumored to house a significantly larger battery compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which could result in a slightly thicker body.

This strategy wouldn’t be unprecedented for Apple, as the company already applies the “Ultra” branding to its high-end products, such as the Apple Watch Ultra and the M3 Ultra chip.
By unveiling an iPhone Ultra packed with cutting-edge innovations, Apple could justify an increased price tag, potentially boosting profit margins.
Speculation Remains
As with all leaks and supply chain-based reports, nothing is confirmed yet. Apple has not officially disclosed any details regarding the iPhone 17 Ultra.
While these claims appear credible, they remain speculative at this stage. However, as new developments unfold, this is certainly an area worth monitoring closely.
