Islamabad, Nov 1: Apply for Passport Online Pakistan Accessible Nationwide

A significant policy shift has been announced by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports,

Enabling Pakistani nationals to apply for passports at any passport office across the country, regardless of their registered address.

Simplifying the application procedure for applicants

Especially those who might require services outside of their home jurisdictions—is the goal of this change to Rule 6 of the Passport Rules 2021.

Following review by the Law Division, a proposal for this amendment was first sent to the Ministry of Interior.

The Federal Cabinet-approved revised rule eliminates

The address-based restriction by requiring all passport-issuing authorities to process applications from individuals across the country.

Every Pakistani citizen may now apply for passport services at any passport office, regardless of the address listed on their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC),

National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), or Child Registration Certificate (CRC), per the official directive.

Zonal heads have been directed to put this updated regulation into effect in order to guarantee accessibility for all citizens.

Given this change in policy, no passport service should be refused based only on jurisdiction or residence.

It is anticipated that this reform will simplify the application procedure and increase public convenience, particularly for people who live or work outside of their permanent residence.
