Islamabad, Oct 8: Ather Zahid Defeats Indian Rival to Win International Championship
Ather Zahid, a 29-year-old Pakistani professional wrestler, has clinched the International Championship title by defeating Indian wrestler Singham Dubey at a major wrestling event in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Zahid showcased remarkable perseverance and tactical skill throughout the competition, ultimately securing a decisive victory over Dubey. In response to his win, Zahid expressed his pride and dedication to his country, stating,
“This victory is not just mine but a huge win for Pakistan and its 250 million people. I am bringing the International Championship title home!”
The international wrestling event, held on October 4, featured top talent from across the globe, highlighting the best athletes in the sport.
Zahid’s journey to this championship began earlier in the year when he earned his spot in the tournament by winning the Fight or Die Championship.
He achieved this feat using his signature move, The Desert Slam, at the WrestleMax 3 event on May 4 at Kashmir Park in Karachi, Sindh.
Born in Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, Ather Zahid is recognized as the first Saudi-born Pakistani professional wrestler.
He developed his wrestling skills under the mentorship of former WWE superstar Kalisto, who played a crucial role in his training and success in the ring.
