Islamabad, Oct 29: Babusar Top, Lulusar Lake, and the Bata Kundi region in Mansehra have experienced significant snowfall, enhancing their appeal as popular tourist spots. Just a few days prior, Babusar Top received its first snowfall of the season, which drew visitors eager to witness the picturesque landscapes of the Kaghan Valley.

However, the recent heavy snow has caused travel disruptions, halting traffic between Bata Kundi and Babusar Top along Shahrah-e-Kaghan. As temperatures drop following the snowfall, residents are bracing for a severe cold wave gripping the area.

In related news, the administrations of Rawalpindi and Murree have introduced a comprehensive safety plan for the 2024-25 snowfall season, set to take effect from November 1 through February 28. This initiative, approved by the Rawalpindi Commissioner, aims to enhance safety following the tragic snow-related incidents in 2022 that resulted in 22 fatalities.

The safety plan includes coordinated efforts from the National Highway Authority, Forest Department, Civil Defence, and Traffic Police, ensuring personnel are stationed in Murree throughout the winter season. An emergency fund of Rs. 59.3 million has been allocated to support these measures.

Furthermore, 100 civil defense volunteers will be deployed with essential safety kits, including life jackets, rain gear, and flashlights, to provide immediate assistance to tourists as necessary.
