Islamabad, Nov 26: On Tuesday, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko was accorded a guard of honor at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, where he arrived to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and engage in delegation-level talks.
The formal welcome included the playing of the national anthems of both Pakistan and Belarus, followed by the president reviewing the smartly turned-out contingents of Pakistan’s armed forces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly received President Lukashenko, and both leaders introduced their respective delegations before proceeding to their bilateral discussions.
In a gesture of goodwill, President Lukashenko also planted a sapling in the lawn of the Prime Minister’s House.
Earlier, on Monday, President Lukashenko was received at the airport by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet members upon his arrival for the three-day official visit.
During his time in Pakistan, the Belarusian president will hold extensive talks with the Prime Minister, focusing on expanding bilateral cooperation. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during this visit.
