LAHORE: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, said that Suzuki biogas plant not only promote environmental sustainability but also create economic opportunities for local farmers through waste-to-energy initiatives.

He paid a visit today to the site of Suzuki Company Limited’s upcoming biogas plant project at Manga Mandi, Lahore.

The visit was hosted by Suzuki Pakistan’s Managing Director, Mr. Hiroshi Kawamura, who welcomed Mr. Khan and briefed him on the scope and vision of the plant.

Commending Suzuki’s initiative, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan lauded the company’s efforts to pioneer biogas-based fuel solutions for vehicles, calling it a significant step forward in Pakistan’s journey toward a clean energy future.

He noted that biogas represents a promising alternative to traditional fossil fuels and could substantially decrease Pakistan’s reliance on expensive oil and LNG imports.

Mr. Khan emphasized that the Prime Minister’s “Uraan Vision” prioritizes the development and adoption of sustainable energy solutions across the country.

He pointed out that projects like the Suzuki biogas plant not only promote environmental sustainability but also create economic opportunities for local farmers through waste-to-energy initiatives.

He directed the stakeholders involved to expedite the implementation process, underlining the project’s dual advantage of being both environmentally friendly and economically viable.

Representatives from Suzuki clarified that in cases where biogas is unavailable, vehicles would still have the option to run on petrol, ensuring fuel flexibility.
