Islamabad, Oct 27: Pakistan Officially Appoints New White-Ball Captain. The new white-ball captain and vice-captain of the national team have been announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The forthcoming limited-overs tour of Australia will mark the beginning of the new captain’s responsibilities. Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s veteran wicket-keeper batsman, has been formally named the limited-overs captain, with all-rounder Salman Ali Agha serving as his deputy.
Pakistan had earlier revealed their teams for the forthcoming trips of Zimbabwe and Australia. In addition to leading the team in the T20Is in Australia, Rizwan is a member of the ODI squad for both trips. Salman Ali Agha will captain the T20I team in his place as the outstanding wicket-keeper batter is not included in the roster for the match against Zimbabwe.
Since former captain Babar Azam left earlier this month, Rizwan was considered the best person to lead the team. Babar’s second stint as Pakistan’s white-ball skipper drew harsh criticism following the country’s dismal T20 World Cup losses and other subpar bilateral series performances.
In order to continue Pakistan’s winning spirit from the red-ball team into the limited-overs format, Rizwan will be looking to rouse his soldiers.
