British-Pakistani Sufi opera star, Saira Peter, has been acknowledged with a special letter of appreciation from Buckingham Palace for her rendition of the British national anthem, ‘God Save the King,’ following the coronation of King Charles III.

The King expressed his gratitude and best wishes to Saira upon receiving her recording, performed in soprano vocal range. Accompanying the letter was a signed photo card from King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Commissioned by the UK Government offices at Hastings Town Hall in East Sussex, the recording is utilized for official government events across the region, including citizenship ceremonies, as stated in a press release.

This recognition follows Saira’s previous performance of ‘God Save the Queen’ in 2018, also commissioned by the government, marking her as the first Asian and the sole Pakistani to receive this honor.

Her previous recording prompted a personal letter of appreciation from the late Queen.

Saira Peter, a trailblazer in various domains – Pakistan’s pioneer opera singer, the world’s inaugural Sufi opera vocalist, and the first Asian to record the British national anthem – continues to elevate Pakistan’s reputation on the global platform.
