Islamabad, Jan 1: On Wednesday, a federal cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Board of Investment and a Chinese company for the collaboration in the development of textile parks. This partnership aims to boost the textile sector and strengthen economic ties with China.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the significance of effective governance, urging the implementation of a comprehensive plan after a detailed briefing on the government’s rightsizing. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for accountability and strategic planning to ensure efficient government functioning.

The cabinet also approved an amendment to Section 3(7) of the Pakistan Telecommunication Act, 1996, which involved updates on the salaries and allowances for the members and chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). This change aims to enhance the working conditions and compensation structure within the telecommunications sector.

Additionally, the cabinet sanctioned a policy related to the overseas posting of Information Group officers in information sections abroad, marking a step toward better management and representation of Pakistan’s information services globally.

Further, the cabinet ratified several key decisions from the Cabinet Committee on Legislation and the Economic Coordination Committee, ensuring progress on crucial matters affecting the country’s economic and legal framework. These decisions reflect the government’s focus on strategic governance and economic development.
