Islamabad, 14 Apr, 2025: Right of Citizenship Fee adjustments are coming into effect on March 31, 2025, as announced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Individuals planning to apply for Canadian citizenship will now need to account for a revised fee structure. The Right of Citizenship Fee for adult applicants is increasing by 20%, moving up from $100 to $119.75.
Although this adjustment may appear modest at first glance, it has a financial impact on every adult applicant. Understanding the updated charges is essential for anyone preparing to complete their journey toward Canadian citizenship.

Revised Costs for Adult Applicants (18+)
Effective from March 31, 2025, the total application fee for individuals aged 18 and older will be $649.75, which includes:
- Processing Fee (18+): CAD $530
- Right of Citizenship Fee: CAD $119.75
- Total: CAD $649.75
No Changes for Children and Certain Adults
The fee change doesn’t apply to everyone. Here’s what stays the same:
- Applicants under 18 years: The fee remains at CAD $100.
- Stateless adults born to Canadian parents: Only need to pay the revised Right of Citizenship Fee of CAD $119.75.
Regardless of whether you apply online or through the mail, the fee amount is identical.
Avoid Application Delays by Paying the Correct Fee
If an applicant submits the outdated $100 payment after March 31, 2025, IRCC will not reject the application but will notify the applicant to pay the additional $19.75.
Applications submitted before March 31 will still be accepted, but the balance difference will be required. To prevent any hold-ups in processing, it’s advisable to ensure your payment reflects the updated charges.
