Published 25 JULY 2024: Due to non-payment of dues, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has suspended birth and death certificate services to the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The public has been inconvenienced by this suspension of services, which has resulted from the CDA’s finance department owing NADRA Rs. 19.66 million, which has not been paid due to lack of funds.
The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has reportedly been denied birth and death certificate services by NADRA as a result of unpaid fees. The MCI has asked the CDA’s finance department to pay the amount on several occasions, but the finance directorate has done nothing.
Since last week, services have been suspended, making it extremely difficult for individuals to receive their documentation. Both the Chairman of the CDA and the Chairman of the NADRA have received appeals requesting that they take urgent notice of the situation and issue instructions for the restoration of service.
