Islamabad, Feb 17: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled a proposal for a new highway aimed at improving access between the Prime Minister House and the Margalla Enclave. The plan involves utilizing the existing six-kilometer highway up to the Barakahu Bypass, with an additional four-kilometer extension to complete the connection.
The initiative was launched in response to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s directive for a five-minute route to Margalla Enclave. The CDA’s Planning Wing identified the site and submitted the proposal to CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa and the Islamabad Chief Commissioner for approval.

According to sources, senior officials have reviewed the feasibility of the 10-kilometer highway, which is expected to take at least a year to build. The project is anticipated to require a significant investment, with efforts being made to reduce costs. One such cost-saving suggestion is to construct a parallel highway alongside the current route, potentially saving the government between Rs. 6 billion and Rs. 8 billion.
Once completed, the highway will offer a direct and efficient route between the Prime Minister’s House and Margalla Enclave, significantly enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time. This project aims to improve infrastructure and streamline travel in the capital city, benefiting both government officials and residents of the area.
