A comprehensive investment strategy for Pakistan has been launched by China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC), with a focus on transmission line, renewable energy, and hydro projects. At a press conference in Islamabad, the company’s managing director, Wang Huaiwa, disclosed the information, highlighting China’s dedication to aiding Pakistan in developing its energy infrastructure.
The $1.5 billion Azad Patan hydroelectric project in Azad Kashmir is one of the major undertakings. In order to achieve early financial closure, negotiations are presently underway between the Pakistani government and the 700 megawatt (MW) project. The $1.96 billion Sikhi Canari Hydropower Project is another big project that will soon be operational and provide 884 MW of electricity. CEEC has made significant investments in Pakistan, with over $13 billion in current projects. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a larger endeavor that benefits from the company’s work.
Of the 8,000 MW generated in the energy industry alone, 6,000 MW are attributed to China Energy’s projects. With over 100,000 local workers employed, sixteen ZIL firms under CEEC are actively working in Pakistan.Wang Huaiwa emphasized ongoing initiatives that represent China’s long-term strategic alliance with Pakistan, including the Dasu Hydro, Bhasha Dam, Balakot, and Mohmand Hydropower. These initiatives seek to offer economical and environmentally friendly energy options.236,000 Pakistanis are now employed as a result of the $25.4 billion in direct investment made under the CPEC.
