Islamabad, Oct 18: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan said that the meeting slated for October 18-21 in Dubai may affect the fate of the Pakistan’s ICC champions trophy scheduled for 2025.
This meeting will also see the PCB officials providing detailed briefing sessions on the preparations for the event and the construction works on a number of important structures for the tournament.
This meeting will determine the fate of the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan from February 19th to March 9th in 2025. One of the important topics that will be addressed is so called BCCI’s position regarding Indian team’s participation in the Pakistani ground.
The four days working option with involve a board session for hearing the work done in organizing the tournament and solving any issues. Other attendees expected to attend the meeting include retired heads of department, management team from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) who are currently in Multan are also likely to proceed to Dubai for the meeting .
This is after three delegations from the ICC have visited Pakistan and all have described the preparations as satisfactory. With regards to the BCCI, there might be some issues in future which may deny Pakistan the chance to host the event, but for now, PCB top officials are determined to stage the event in the country.
Based on the proposed timeline up, Pakistan is slated for Group A alongside India, Bangladesh and New Zealand.
The BCCI is also yet to receive the go head from the government of India to approve participation in the matches scheduled in Pakistan which could shift the balance of the tournament in a big way.
The tournament will see matches hosted across three major cities: These are Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi respectively. Lahore will be the central point as it will be hosting seven matches out of which final match. These, Karachi will host the first match and one of the semi-finals, and Rawalpindi will host five matches, the other semi-final too.
