ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 2: The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan and China for cooperation in the manufacturing, new energy vehicle, textile, agricultural processing, pharmaceutical, and information technology sectors was approved by the federal cabinet on Friday, following the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement stating that the Ministry of Commerce initially proposed this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which seeks to strengthen trade cooperation between the two nations. The cabinet also approved the charter legislation for the National University of Modern Languages in Islamabad, which was recommended by the Ministry of Federal Education and Vocational Training. Additionally, the meeting approved the establishment of King Hammad University of Nursing & Associated Medical Sciences, a project that is supported by Bahrain.
An interministerial committee report on missing individuals was sent to the premier, outlining the domestic problems resulting from terrorism in the aftermath of the Afghan war. The report described the caretaker government of 2023’s latest acts as well as its work throughout the previous ten years. The cabinet approved a relief package of Rs. 5 million for the families of those who have gone missing, while also endorsing the committee’s recommendations.
Additionally, on July 22, 2024, the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises issued decisions that were confirmed by the cabinet.
