Islamabad, Aug 21: Arshad Nadeem, the gold medallist from the Olympics, paid a visit to General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), on Tuesday at Joint Staff Headquarters.
According to a news release from Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Chairman of the JCSC praised Arshad Nadeem’s efforts for becoming the first person from Pakistan to win an Olympic Gold Medal in a singles event and for breaking previous records.

Arshad Nadeem achieved a significant milestone in Pakistan’s sports history via hard work and dedication, and General Sahir Shamshad Mirza appreciated this and wished him well in all of his future endeavors.

At the General Headquarters (GHQ) earlier on August 16, the Pakistan Army conducted a ceremony to honor javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem’s historic accomplishment.

The incredible achievement of Arshad Nadeem was hailed by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, who acknowledged it as a great source of national pride, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media and public relations branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

During his speech, Arshad Nadeem—who created history by smashing Thorkildsen’s 16-year-old record of 90.57 meters with a throw of 92.97 meters—thanked everyone for the accolades and emphasized the value of perseverance and hard effort in overcoming obstacles to succeed.

Olympic athletes from 1984 graced the occasion, together with well-known personalities from street football, cricket, national hockey, and women’s sports. Legendary squash player Jahangir Khan, hockey legends Islahuddin, Shahbaz Senior, and Sohail Abbas, boxer Muhammad Asif, and tennis player Aisamul Haq were among the notable guests.
