Islamabad, Sep 5: Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, officially opened two significant infrastructure projects in Lahore: the extension of Ravi Bridge and the Controlled Access Corridor, also known as Bund Road Package-II.
A crucial component of Lahore’s traffic flow system, the Babu Sabu Interchange, was also remodeled under her leadership. The CM examined the state of the work on the Ravi Bridge and Bund Road projects during the event. In order to accommodate the locals, she also ordered the concerned authorities to widen service lanes on the service roads that run along the corridor.
The Chief Engineer, Israr Saeed, and Director General Tahir Farooq of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) informed the CM on the completion of construction between the Niazi Interchange and Saggian, in addition to the Saggian to Babu Sabu segment. Along the 7.5 km Bund Road corridor, service lanes have been opened to improve traffic flow.
The creation of a greenbelt and park near Babu Sabu Chowk, as well as the construction of five vehicular and four pedestrian subways, were also highlighted in the briefing. Valuable land has been cleared of encroachments, and a four-lane, 540-meter bridge across the Ravi River has been built.
Although the Bund Road corridor will help communities like Gulshan-i-Ravi, Sanda, and Sherakot, these developments are anticipated to reduce traffic for people in places like Shahdara, Kot Abdul Malik, and Sheikhupura.
