Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz issued directives for the digitization of land records during a meeting held on Saturday.
The meeting, chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, focused on reforms within the Board of Revenue. The Punjab Urban Land Systems in Enhancement (PULSE) project was discussed, with briefings provided by the Punjab Land Record Authority and Management of State Land regarding business plan issues.
It was highlighted during the briefing that the PULSE project, supported by the World Bank, aims to digitize land records across Punjab. This digitization initiative will ensure transparency in the revenue system through the digitization of land and parcel documents.
The meeting underscored the categorization of properties, with clear properties marked as ‘green’, those with issues as ‘yellow’ or ‘red’. The proposal to abolish the joint account system was also deliberated upon, with emphasis on assigning a separate property number to each buyer to minimize legal complexities.
Furthermore, the simplification of the system for individual ownership and transfer of land through digitalization was discussed. An overview of the Overseas Property Transfer Service for Overseas Pakistanis, offering facilities such as personalization, mutation, e-filing, and registration, was provided.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz instructed relevant departments to take necessary steps for digitization and ensure the participation of all relevant stakeholders in the process.
The meeting was attended by Information Minister Azma Bokhari, Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, SMU Head, and other officials.
