Islamabad, Feb 10: In a groundbreaking initiative led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial government has launched a comprehensive project to support persons with disabilities by providing them with essential assistive devices.

This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals with special needs across Punjab by equipping them with necessary mobility and auditory support. Applications are now open for eligible candidates to receive these devices, which will be distributed free of cost to ensure accessibility and ease of movement.

Under the program, wheelchairs will be provided to individuals with mobility impairments, allowing them greater independence in their daily activities. Additionally, hearing aids will be given to those with hearing disabilities to improve their communication and interaction capabilities.

Interested applicants can submit their requests online via the official portal (adwc.punjab.gov.pk). The required documents include a valid CNIC or B-Form and a disability certificate issued by the District Disability Assessment Board. For additional support, individuals can visit their nearest district social welfare office or call the helpline at 1312 for guidance.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed her commitment to the well-being of persons with disabilities, emphasizing their valuable role in society. She announced that Pakistan’s first government-run Autism Center is nearing completion, a significant milestone in providing specialized care and support for autistic individuals.

Furthermore, the Punjab government has introduced the Himmat Card initiative to promote economic empowerment among persons with disabilities. This program is designed to provide financial aid and employment opportunities, ensuring self-sufficiency and independence for special individuals.

With these initiatives, the Punjab government continues to take meaningful steps toward inclusivity and accessibility, reaffirming its dedication to improving the lives of persons with disabilities across the province.
