Islamabad, Aug 25: The Bangladesh cricket team defeated the Shan Masood-led Pakistan squad in the Rawalpindi Test, with the latter’s batting order breaking down and failing to muster a respectable total in the second half of the match.
Bangladesh was within striking distance of victory as the rest of the batting order collapsed like a “wall of sand,” with the exception of Mohammad Rizwan, who remained steady. Babar Azam went out for 22 while Abdullah Shafiq scored 37 runs. Only 14 runs could be scored by Captain Shan Masood before he was sent back to the pavilion. Pakistan’s problems were exacerbated by the dismissals of Salman Agha and Saud Shakeel without any points.
Before they left quickly, Saeem Ayub scored just one run in the lower order, Shaheen Afridi scored two, and Naseem Shah scored three. Bangladesh now needs a manageable total of runs to win the Test match against Pakistan, who have produced one of their worst performances against them.
