ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the government is thoroughly prepared for the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC-II). His forthcoming visit to China will focus on advancing CPEC-II and further strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and China.

The prime minister made this statement during a meeting with a delegation of representatives from Chinese companies operating in Pakistan on Friday.

He emphasized the longstanding and deep brotherly relationship between China and Pakistan, which continues to grow stronger. He noted China’s significant role in Pakistan’s development, expressing the nation’s gratitude for China’s support during challenging times. He affirmed that Pakistan will stand by China on all fronts.

Priority projects under CPEC-II will include Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Gwadar Port, and Agriculture Demonstration Zones.

Representatives of the Chinese companies reiterated their commitment to expanding business and investment in Pakistan, describing the country as their second home.

The meeting included Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Industry and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Minister of Power Owais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Federal Minister of Ports and Shipping Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Minister of Petroleum Musadik Malik, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, Jiang Zedong, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, and other senior government officials.
