Islamabad, Oct 19: Cultural Evolution in Pakistan Conference is all set to explore nation’s heritage and culture to curb violent extremism. In a groundbreaking initiative, Evolve Management Consultancy is hosting a oneday conference, “Cultural Evolution in Pakistan,” on October 23, 2024, at Lok Virsa, Islamabad, in collaboration with Culture and Heritage Division and Lok Virsa itself.
The event brings together esteemed intellectuals, artists, public sector representatives, corporate leaders, and diplomats from multiple countries to delve into Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and it’s connection with China, Central Asia, Iran, Tunisia and Cuba. The conference promises to be a thought-provoking platform, with opening remarks by CEO Evolve Management Consultancy Mr. Nabeel Younis, and keynote addresses by Secretary Heritage and Cultural Division Mr. Hassan Nasir Jamy, and Additional Secretary Policy Planning MOFA, Dr. Israr Hussain.
The conference comprises of three segments including a panel discussion involving academia and professionals. This discussion will explore the narrative building and polarization dilemma in our society. It will also discuss how culture can co-exist with religion and nurture a society where extremism and violence have no place.
In second and third segments, renowned scholars, artists and diplomats will give presentations on various topics, highlighting cultural diplomacy and similarities between different cultures and civilizations. The event also includes performances by Khanzada Asfandyar Khattak and a local traditional musical band. Representatives from China, Tajikistan, Cuba, Morocco, Tunisia, and Iran and some EU countries will participate in a cultural exchange, highlighting common aspects of Pakistan’s and their cultures.
Dr. Waqas Saleem, Director Research Centre of Excellence and Cohesion Lok Virsa, will deliver the closing remarks. The conference aims to foster a deeper understanding of Pakistan’s cultural trajectory, promote cultural awareness and preservation, and encourage inclusive dialogue and collaboration. It also discusses how cultural awareness can help the people and the state in curbing violent extremism. The conference will start at 2:15 pm at Faiz Heritage Library (white hall) and guests will enter from gate 3 of Lok Virsa. The event is free to attend.
